Nigeria: Kaduna Relaxes 24-Hour Curfew

he Kaduna State government has reviewed the 24-hour curfew imposed on the state for the past one week after the violence that trailed the bombing of three churches in Kaduna and Zaria.
The state government in a statement after reviewing the security situation and the effect of the curfew on the people announced that from Monday, residents can move about from 12 noon to 4pm.
The government in a statement by the Special Adviser to Governor Patrick Yakowa, Mr. Reuben Buhari said as from Tuesday, people in Kaduna North, Kaduna South, Chikun and Igabi local governments are free to move about from 7am to 4pm while the curfew in the other 19 local governments in the state was reviewed from 6am to 6pm.
The statement reads: "After serious deliberations, the Kaduna State security council has reviewed the curfew hours as follows: for today (Monday 25), people can move freely from 12 noon to 4pm. from tomorrow (Tuesday 26), people in Kaduna North, Kaduna South, Igabi and Chikun can move freely from 7am to 4pm,while for the 19 remaining LGs people can move freely from 6am to 6pm. All are advise to remain calm."
The government was forced to impose the stringent 24-hour curfew to quell the tit-for-tat reprisal attacks that broke out after the church bombings.
